The Culture Map
Culture and communication determine the success or failure of international projects, partnerships and business
What is the course about?
The workshop is designed to enhance participants’ cultural agility and effectiveness in global business environments. With the help of the Country Mapping System (derived from Erin Meyer’s research and insights from her book “The Culture Map”) we help participants understand and manage cultural differences across various dimensions, such as communication styles, feedback preferences, decision-making processes, and attitudes towards hierarchy and authority.

Objective
Provide teams with tools to better understand and decode cultural differences and learn how to avoid culture traps, with practical examples, and be able to self-assess and adapt your own team style across eight cross-cultural dimensions that will help them identify the gaps and possible overlaps.
Workshop Components
1. Cultural Dimensions
Introduction of Erin Meyer’s cultural dimensions that form the basis of the Country Mapping System. These dimensions include communication, feedback, persuading, leading, deciding, trusting, disagreeing, and scheduling. Participants learn how these dimensions vary across cultures and impact interactions in professional settings.
2. Interactive Exercises
The workshop includes interactive exercises and case studies that allow participants to apply the Country Mapping System. For example, participants might engage in role-play scenarios or analyze real-world business situations to identify cultural differences and develop strategies for effective cross-cultural communication and collaboration.
3. Country Profiles
We will provide detailed insights into specific country profiles, highlighting key cultural norms, values, and behaviors. Participants gain a deeper understanding of how cultural differences manifest in different regions, such as North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
4. Practical Strategies
Throughout the workshop, participants learn practical strategies for adapting their communication and leadership styles based on cultural context. They explore techniques for building trust, giving and receiving feedback, negotiating deals, and managing multicultural teams more effectively.
5. Q&A and Discussion
The workshop encourages active participation through Q&A sessions and group discussions. Participants have the opportunity to share their experiences, challenges, and best practices related to cross-cultural interactions, allowing for peer learning and knowledge exchange.
